About the Naval Postgraduate School High Performance Computer Center:
Established in 1909, NPS’ HPC Center leads the pack in innovative scientific computing research while sustaining pertinence to national security and defense.
“Our graduates are the though-leaders of the future, and our ability to empower their innovation is our solemn service to the nation,” said Dr. Christine Haska, Vice President, Information Resources and Chief Information Officer.
The HPC Center has created a hybrid computer that holds 48-core and 64-core nodes of AMD CPU’s. System specifications: 1,912 CPU cores and 11,296 GPU cores that allow for advanced computer simulation and modeling. With over 100 terabytes of near-line hard-disk storage, 199 terabytes of ultrafast online DDN hard disk storage, and 475 terabytes of tape backup/archive capability, the hybrid cluster is accessible campus-wide.
Utilizing supercomputer systems, large datasets and other tools, NPS deals with projects that not only improves but advances security and science.
