DeVine Quarterly Veterans Meeting Kick-Off!

   |   By  |  0 Comments

September 20, 2017 | Monterey, CA

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, DeVine launched its first Quarterly Veterans Meeting open to all DeVine employees. The mission behind this new event was to learn more about our veterans’ experiences and how we can better serve the veteran community as a government contractor.

This casual round-table discussion revolved around the transition process from military to civilian workforce as they are two very different worlds. We wanted to dig a little deeper with our very own DeVine veterans regarding their experiences of returning to the civilian workforce and what resources were available from the military to help them get back on their feet.

We have learned quite a bit from our first meeting. Many questions were asked and we gained a new perspective on the struggles of our own veterans here at DeVine. DeVine will use this information to advance and support Veteran causes.

To show our gratitude to those who provide the necessary resources for our veterans, DeVine has donated $500 to the Veterans Transition Center (VTC) of Monterey County. We hope that these contributions will provide more assistance in improving the lives of our transitioning veterans.

We want to thank everyone who made it to our first Quarterly Veterans Meeting! For those who did not make it, we hope that you will attend our next meeting taking place in October. (More info TBA)

Fremont, California, March 29, 2017 – In partnership with Universities Space Research Association (USRA), DeVine Consulting, Inc. (DeVine), has been awarded a contract to provide NASA with science and mission operations support for its Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) program. The USRA prime contract covers a 5-year base period followed by six two-year options for a total of approximately $514 million. DeVine will bring its expertise in cybersecurity, systems administration, and software development for this effort. This will include protecting data and system integrity, Windows & Linux systems administration, disaster recovery, and assistance to the facility science Instrument (FSI) to develop software to improve observing efficacy and instrument performance.

SOFIA is the largest airborne astronomical observatory featuring a far-infrared telescope mounted in the rear fuselage of a highly modified Boeing 747SP aircraft. It will also provide the technical and management guidance of the combined USRA and Deutsches SOFIA Institut (DSI) staff and research equipment to maximize the observatory productivity.
