Lieutenant Paul Smith joins DeVine as Technical Program Manager

July 7, 2014 – Fremont, CA — Paul Smith was born and raised in Beaufort, North Carolina. He signed up for delayed entry into the US Navy during his junior year of high school and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, in September of 1997. Upon completion of his initial training, he was assigned to the VAW-120 home-ported in Norfolk, Virginia and quickly mastered several different aircraft navigation systems.

December of 2005 upon completion of his Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. As an Ensign he reported to Naval Maritime Forecast Center in Norfolk, VA and quickly learned Meteorology, qualifying as Forecaster in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, Tropical Forecast Officer, and Command Duty Officer ensuring environmental safety to operations in concert with the Optimal Track Ship Routing Officers.In September 2008, he transferred to Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California; earning in Masters of Science in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography.

In July of 2011, Mr. Smith reported to the Operations Department at Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center successfully managing numerous collateral programs and producing new capabilities within eGENO, GBS, HWDDC and others complex programs. Paul is transitioning from Naval Service and is now DeVine Consulting’s newest member as the Technical Program Manager.
